Triangle tube Solo 110 pumps wont shut off

@ September 19, 2013 10:52 PM in Triangle tube Solo 110 pumps wont shut off

I went on a service call today on a triangle tube solo 110 and the complaint was very hot domestic water. Get there and boiler was cycling off of high limit. The dhw and radiant pump was running with no dhw and radiant call. This house was it by lightning this morning.

What pump would be a good match in a 2400 series taco.

On a single zone on the secondary loop would you install check valve and flow check valve. Have anybody used the flange flow checks from webstone.

I can do 10"-15" from elbows to pumps and spirovent. Do you recommend piping into secondary circuit vertical from hoz. primary loop tees.

On a primary loop how close can there be 90 degree fittings from spirovent and pumps.

I was at a job today and they have the same problem, some contractor added 20 zones to a monoflo tee system. and they don't know why some of the zones are cooler and there have been other contractors working on this system in the last 10 years, they still did catch it.

Pump curve testing ?

@ August 9, 2012 8:42 PM in Pump curve testing ?

I'm testing the pump curve on a grundfos ups 50-80/4 hooked up to 2.5" copper monoflow tee primary loop and my inlet gauge reading was 14psi and 22 psi at outlet of pump with all the zones calling for heat and with one zone calling for heat it was at 14 psi at inlet and 23 psi at outlet. The boiler has 14 psi in boiler. To get the head of feet number do i use 22 psi or 22psi - 14psi= 8psi to use.       1 psi=.43 head feet.

Steamhead
What should i do with these steam main vents on the dry returns. Do i need to install those main air eliminator.

!

@ October 12, 2009 7:54 PM in vapor system missing Hoffman Loop?

I do have all of Dan's books. I know it needs a vaporstat, but the pressuetrol is turned down.
It has 4 returns coming back to boiler. But two of the return gets hot and the other two don't get hot. If i take off the 4 return main vent the two of the return mains vent like crazy and the other two don't.

vapor system missing Hoffman Loop?

@ October 12, 2009 12:20 AM in vapor system missing Hoffman Loop?

I think i'm missing a hooffman loop. I have a steam vapor system here, looks like some things were changed at one time. Some of the radiator don't heat.

@ April 17, 2009 1:08 AM in Is this a vapor system

does it matter what radiator valves you have on this vapor system.

@ April 10, 2009 11:48 PM in Is this a vapor system

there are main air vent at the end of the dry returns. I looked all thru dan's book and i think when they replaced the boiler 17 years ago some changed some piping around. The water line on the boiler is lower by 2" of the hartford loop close nipple. I don't know if we even have 24" from water line to header. I will be getting some more pictures tomorrow.

@ April 10, 2009 6:14 PM in Is this a vapor system

By looking at this pictures of the lower radiator fitting, what kind of 2 pipe steam is it.

@ April 10, 2009 2:08 PM in F&T trap on 2 pipe steam?

Should there be a F&T trap at the end of the 2 pipe steam main, before to go back to the return main. The 2 return mains on this line stop venting after 3 mintues of run time. And then the return getts hot.
