Just Purchased A Dwyer Flex Tube Manometer. Being An Old Oil Tech Who Is Breaking into The Gas End...How Do I Connect the Manometer To The Gas Valve?

Jumped Out Every Safety And Controls Including Thermostat. Ran Wires From Trans Directly to Gas valve And Same Situation with Voltage Happened?

@ February 19, 2009 6:00 PM in Burned Out

Found Burned Out 24 Volt 40 Va Trans On Gas Boiler Today. Found And Repaired Shorted Wire From Thermostat. Replaced Trans. Boiler Runs 5 Minutes Then It Starts Short Cycling. Trans Has 27 Volts Until Short Cycling Then Drops To 14 Volts. Tried Another Trans...Same Results. Voltage To Trans Fluctuates From 120-123. Switched To other Leg Of Circuit Box...125 Volts Steady. Same Voltage Drop At Trans Secondary. I'm Stumped...Any Thoughts?

Any Experience With The Peerless Pinnacle...Good Or Bad? Customer In A Large House Was Told It Was The Way To Go. He Has 2 Boilers Firing A Total Of 2.25 GPH. They Are Hooked Up To Tekmar Control With A Large Indirect. 10 Zones In House. Does This Sound Like A Good Application For The Pinnacle?

@ September 29, 2008 6:18 PM in Why Can't I Boil Water in an Oven?

We have An Oven In A Bakery that Uses A Small Steam Boiler To "Inject" Steam Into The Oven.

Hot Water

@ February 27, 2008 8:36 PM in new boiler have heat but noy so good hot water? can anyone help

Do You Have A Coil In Boiler? You Might Have A Manual Mixing Valve in Between Hot And Cold Pipes Coming Out Of Coil. This Valve Might Be Fully Open. Picture Would Help.

Klear-O-Line

@ February 27, 2008 8:17 PM in Klear-O-Line

Having A lot Of Problems This Winter With Clogged Oil Lines To Buried Tanks. Co2 And Push-Pull Pump Clears Some Of The Problem Lines. Replacing Oil Lines Would Take Care Of All Of The Problems. Tiger Loops Take Care Of Quite A Few Problems.Anyone Having Luck With Klear-O-Line Or Another Technique Or Chemical?

Leave It On

@ February 16, 2008 9:14 PM in Turn Off the Oil Burner?

Turn Down Aquastat To It's Lowest Setting For Summer To Prevent Boiler From Sweating Internally. You Will Use Very little Oil. H2O + Soot= Plugged Boiler When You Try To Use It For First Time In Fall...Of Course We Are Talking About Pin Type Boilers. If You Have A Triple Pass Boiler It Will Not plug...I Would Still Keep It On.

High Limit

We Set The Manual Reset Aquastat @ 240F To Avoid The Nusance Calls You Are Having.

Bio Fuel And Leaks

@ January 22, 2008 8:24 PM in Bio Fuel And Leaks

Seeing A Lot Of Leaking Oil Filter Assembly's Lately. Leaking At Rubber Gasket That Seals Top To Bottom Bowl. We Use Bio Oil. Is It Because Of Bio Or Poor Filters?

Waterglass

Empty The Bottle On The Bottom Of The Inside Of Boiler And Place Insulation Blanket In it. It Works Like A Glue.

1/4 turn valves

@ January 19, 2008 5:43 PM in Cold Bedroom

Does The Convector Have A Shutoff Valve Under It? Sometimes These Valves Get "Touched" And Are No Longer Open. The Valve Will Have Arrows On It For Open And Closed...They Should Only Spin 1/4 Turn Unless Stop Is bad.

Dimension \"A\"

@ January 19, 2008 5:16 PM in Return Help

If I'm Seeing Your Picture Correctly..You Have A Dry Return That Seems Short Of Height Above Water Line In Boiler ( Dimension "A")I Would Drop Return To Floor And Bring It Up At Hartford Loop With An Elbow And Close Nipple. If You Have Dan's Art of Steam Heating Book...Look For Dimension "A" Information And Near Boiler Piping Techniques.

Soot?

@ January 8, 2008 5:58 PM in At Wits end w/ my own boiler

Sounds Like Boiler Needs A Vacuum Cleaning To Lower Stack Temperature?

@ December 22, 2007 3:55 PM in hydronic hammer

If These Are Spring Closing Valves Such As Honeywells...I Have Removed One Of The Two Springs To Slow Down The closing Of Valve. Circulator On Supply And Zone Valves On Returns Would Have Been A Beter Way To Install And Avoid "Water Hammer"
