Motor??

@ December 14, 2013 10:28 PM in Beckett Burner irregular trips

I agree about parts changers... check ohms if it is 4-600 ok but must be lower than 1500..use a  meter if this is ok.. I mostly try control/or motor leave the old part on truck 1 week.. if they have hit the reset every day for a week and I change the motor after a week.. its scrap..sometimes you as we all know try something and really hope we get it the first time.. hate call backs..

nozzle line

@ June 19, 2013 5:48 PM in AFG which pump pressure and nozzle size

If you have a pressure gauge only.. I have one that goes from nozzle port to drawer assembly.. put the gauge to nozzle line use small screwdriver to adjust pump pressure to 140 the use test intruments to ck settings..

What I found 1 time.....

@ April 21, 2013 10:08 PM in brazed fittings ok for oil line?

Not sure of code or what  is easier or what you do BUT I had a fuel line that leaked quite a bit of fuel from a brazed fitting. The cost of Fuel oil I think I'd use a flare Just my opinion....

Fuel Supply

@ March 1, 2013 8:55 PM in weil mclain oil boiler help please

You could replace the burner but if it's the fuel suuply it will not help. Try running a tempory supply 5 gallon can to burner if it runs perfect.. fuel supply. may be an issue, there are so many things it could be like said pin hole in line sluge at opening of supply dirty pump screen ect ect but to find out what it is you must elimanate what it is not... I to work on a few burners like this one not my favorite but they work ok. I had a 550 run out the other day put in 5 gallons and it ran til the fuel Truck came..ps maybe a tiger loop....also may help

bids

@ June 16, 2012 7:58 PM in oil furnace replacement

I would get 3 bids total and never go with the cheeapest. Steam is a great heat but be sure you have someone that does it right or you will have trouble .Ask a lot of questions what do you include, how long have you been doing this, can I talk to someone or maybe a few customers you have done jobs for . This is a big investment and you should do your homework,,,

Banging Burnham

@ January 3, 2011 10:16 PM in Beckett burner banging real bad

Have read most of these posts kinda interesting. 1 thing I did not see was nozzle line. I have had a few of these NEW and have bad flares. A Beckett rep said a Machine did it and That was impossible. At my cost I mailed One to them. Seems a while back the machine screwed up. They thought they got all the faulty ones apparently not.

circulator??

@ September 2, 2009 9:15 PM in New Home / Old Boiler-Burner

Does your boiler have a circulator if yes then its hot water. It seems you never had oil heat(or ur friend) may be a good idea to have a tech from your local oil co. come over for a tune-up and ask lots of questions.

Great job

@ August 12, 2009 4:47 PM in Great job

Must Side With Ron Jr.

@ August 2, 2009 10:41 PM in Stayed with oil heat ( Ron Jr. )

We Use The Same Set Up. Only Thing I Like To Do Is Filter It Off The Tank. I Flush The Valve At Every Cleaning. My No Heats Due To Clogged Oil Filters Come Only From Thoses That Never Get A Tune-up.

Plugged The Pipe

@ July 26, 2009 11:26 PM in Older Interesting Read

I was on a job installing a new gas boiler. I had and still deliver fuel oil. I noticed the fill pipes from an old tank just hanging there. I told my co-workers we need to plug them Why they said we are here to install a new boiler. I had no rest til I plugged them at least this way a wrong delivery will only get an oil bath instaed of a basement filled.

filter

@ May 31, 2009 1:41 AM in AC problem

Tis Amazing We Tell Everyone How Important A Clean Air Filter Is A/C Even More Thn Heat. My Guess Is your Indoor Coil Was Frozen As Said Leave It off Then Try It. But Learn From Your Mistake Change That Filter

Out Of Oil

@ April 15, 2009 11:33 PM in strange

I Think You Answered Your Own Question. Most Times When A Homeowner Runs Out A Lot They Have Pluuged Filters Or Pump Screens. Since You Cleaned It A Week Ago Did You Check The Pump Screen???

Make It (credit) If You Upgrade From Say A 72% To An 82% or More I Bet Everyone Of You Can Tell A Story Like Mrs. Hykes Went From Using 1100 Gallons With Her Old Conversion To Her New Modern Scorched Air System.Only 600 gallons. Really If We Do Nothing Then Nothing Will Be Done.

Blanket

@ April 10, 2009 3:38 PM in Burnham V8 vs V8H

The First One I Installed I Noticed It Did Not Have A Blanket On The Bottom. Checked With Burnham Was Told Unless It Was For Steam It Was Not Needed. Also The Circulator And Burner Are Unassemeled. royboy
