Sorry Gordo, I should have noted that.

with my wife for her appointment (Baltimore city life). So here I am in the waiting room and I pull out of my tote this big book to read. Had a few glances from a couple of people that could see what I was reading. And nearby is the Bromo Seltzer building where Gordo and Steamhead fixed their steam system. And as I read I could see the steam pipes that are in my son's building where we are moving to do some renovation for him. It all makes sense. Such elegant applications of physical properties, gravity and metal castings. Thanks Dan. Doug

And now, something a little bit different...

@ April 19, 2009 7:16 PM in Moving into steam....

So, son has closed on house with steam. Lost Art is on its way. Spent some time looking at things and see a plum-bing job in sight. Thanks to Flomax I can pee faster that the water reaching the bathtub on the second floor. Lots of original pipe (80+years) that may be a bit clogged by now. Have to find the meter and see what goes to the street. I can get copper at the Lowes a couple of miles away but will be searching for a source of pex as it may be easier to snake thru the walls. The adventure begins.... Roofer is doing roof, I don't do heights.

as soon as we get a key. We just did the walk thru and the place is still full of stuff. So my son and the real estate agent are deciding what to do- pospone settlement or reduce the price and try to settle this afternoon. Too bad the agent did not do his homework before today. Some rads need to be repitched (and I have not even got the book yet)

Time to buy The Lost Art....

My son is closing today on the office house. Have the summer to lower pressure, insulate basement pipes and all the other stuff. And of course order "The Book". Frank, we will be moving in during the next two weeks. I will see what gas consumption history I can get from BGE. A new adventure begins.

job is not spent on sweating pipe, I spent way too much money on my heating system for the bank because of this site. The temp outside on this day was just above freezing but I do this for fun. The shot with the snow is below freezing. Almost as crazy as not pumping away.

in Maine have a deposit of a 5 cents, 15 cents on a wine bottle. There are no containers lying around. There is a guy in my little town that scours the area and takes them to the redemption center. If I put out containers for him on the front steps they are gone that day. I Baltimore I pick them up off our street where the trashy folks throw them. In the Inner Harbor the city runs several floating skimmers on the water that scoop up the thousands of floaters than come via the rivers or street drains. >>>The back of my truck gets filled w/ plastic bottles as the weeks drag on until I get them to recycling. I've been known to collect them at job sites and roadsides just so they won't clog landfills..<<<<

US oil consumption numbers is such that significant reduction in imports will happen when there is none to import. We will pussyfoot around the subject and talk about it but will waste as much time and effort as we have since the 70's when the subject was last in the news. They need to aim the talk at the windmills.
