@ June 8, 2014 7:40 AM in Typical venting for high-efficiency wall-hung boilers?

I think we have all learned over the years about venting mod/cons.Unless stated by manufacturer polypropelyne is your best bet.If you are using chimney as a chase I like to use centrotherm.

thankyou gents

@ June 7, 2014 7:50 AM in gas range,no vent?

You all confirmed what I was thinking.Even though not required by code where I live I had to turn down the job.Customer does not want to open a wall to vent appliance.
Again thanks for your time and input.

nice bronze pump

@ June 1, 2014 9:06 AM in One of the worst-maintained oil-fired boilers we've seen

I had to quote a similar job and insisted on a bronze pump as in Dans books.Lost the job but as always great pics and beautiful work.Happy customers.? i am pretty sure you are more expensive than other companies do you have to do a whole sales pitch etc, dont mean to hijack thread.thanks

@ June 1, 2014 8:57 AM in Rinnai boiler corroded in less than two years

I just did a job .all balancing valves were caked in mud.A lot of ferous materials on boiler but radiant was piped with non oxy barrier pex, ouch.Try reach out to Jack,he is familiar with Rinnai and will troubleshoot you through this I am sure.

@ June 1, 2014 8:53 AM in Sizing New Gas Steam Boiler

you got Steamheads attention which is very good for you.He just helped me out on a few details.I recommend you get Dans book EDR.I needed it for my specific job and got what I was looking for.Good luck with project but maybe pics of current boiler, venting etc will help you get great help here.

thanks Icesailor

gas range,no vent?

@ May 31, 2014 7:21 AM in gas range,no vent?

I lived in many apartments in Bklyn and didnt have vent on stove.I have a customer who wants me to install one but I am hesitant to do it as he does not want to vent appliance.Stupid ? ,how critical is it to vent the appliance,Town codes aside,my town doesnt require it.

re circ line

@ May 31, 2014 7:15 AM in Recirculating loop

I posted same question a long time ago.I used Hot Rods drawing, system works a charm.Very interesting what Icesailor points out,I never worked on well water but what great advice, think this guy has a trick for everything.

how did you get down to 2 boilers

@ May 31, 2014 7:09 AM in Utica vs Lochinvar

I have an IBC in my house and have not had any problems.Installation is the key with any of these boilers, use an indirect and get the most out of the boiler,No water heater required.
Again there are many fantastic boilers, all about installation and maintenance.

@ May 31, 2014 6:55 AM in Skim Port Drain Plug Removal Advice

If it is a brass plug i would drill a hole through it and then with a sawzall make a cut in plug from the middle to the thread careful not to cut tapping on boiler.good luck

fair prices

@ May 30, 2014 7:13 AM in Top reasons for doing business with.

I agree it drives me crazy when I go through my tickets and see the difference in prices. Also dont wait for inventory to run out before ordering.Otherwise my supply houses are great and help out a lot.A good relationship is required onboth sides and i am sure supply houses have their complaints also.End of the day we should be on the same side

@ May 26, 2014 9:42 PM in Taco relay loud constant buzz! help!

@ May 17, 2014 8:20 AM in Steamhead,Chris

It was first try and thanks for the tips.I cut in main vents as there wasnt any and will address the issue of tying everything of one tee. Thanks for your help and comments.I wanted a 21/2 header but I couldnt get the fittings.I kept everything 2" hopefully that helps.

@ May 16, 2014 10:34 PM in Eliminating pipe dope smell

@ May 16, 2014 10:30 PM in Plumbing Signoff assistance Needed

NYC master plumber is a hard one.the ones I know would never cover someone's work but you never know. It's a big ask though in my opinion

I asked you previously about a IN5 install. Here it is,please feel free to critise

Monflow system?

@ April 27, 2014 12:15 PM in Problem with new kickspace heater

If so you will need a monoflow tee under the unit and next tee as harvey said about 8"downstream.Usually works for me,send a pic but the water is definitly staying in larger pipe.Force it in to the toekick. If using the brass momoflo tee use 2 and reverse the second tee(tee looks like it has a ramp inside it).Good luck

@ April 27, 2014 12:08 PM in Three Recent Steamers

I know it is a little overkill but love the way your piping looks.I have to add main air vents as their is none, another company said it was unnecessary so I really want to go the extra mile.A young family starting out and every vent in the house is hissing like crazy.Again thanks for all you contribute here a few of us do listen.

great pics

@ April 27, 2014 11:25 AM in Three Recent Steamers

Great debate

@ April 27, 2014 11:21 AM in Mark vs Martin

I personally think Marks argument and delivery came across a lot better and was more informative.G
Thanks for the link and as always a lot to learn from both sides.
