As I consider a retro to radiant floor heat I was wondering how those of you who have it add humidity to your house?

As I start my education of radiant heating I am now looking at the manifolds. Am I correct in thinking that the manifold is just a distribution point with valves to isolate and balance each loop? If so could a guy fabricate his own?

I would like to experiment with a small flat panel radiator and the excess water I have in a tempering tank that is heated by my solid fuel furnace. I want to run a line to a small room and "dump" the excess heat.
So where is a good source for radiators?

Aluminum Transfer Plates-Homemade??

As i start the process of thinking through a radiant floor system that is installed under the subfloor I was wondering. Has anyone fabricated their own transfer plates? If so what did you use and how did you go about it?

Just came across this site! Looks like what I am in need of.
I have been kicking around the idea of switching to radiant floor heat. This would be a staple up situation for the 1st. floor.
My first question would be what would be a good book to educate myself more fully? I would be using a solid fuel boiler with the system I end up with.
Also I noticed a few posts that recommended staying away from internet "stores" that handle supplies. Any specific reason?
