Rinnai
@ November 17, 2011 5:26 PM in Rinnai cycles hot cold
What I am complaining about is the outrages price of that inspection which renders the warranty worthless. I will give you that we have hard water here. I do not want a water softener. Other hot water heaters do not rot out here. When you have the heat exchanger of a Rennai in your hand you see how thin and light it is.My Bradford White 40 gallon is still in line. I had it valved off. I put it back on line and it started right up. After sitting there for five years. Also, there is almost no difference in gas bills between the two heaters. My brother has a superstor SSU 45 which works fine in this area without a water softener.
Rinnai cycles Hot-Cold

I had a similar problem using a shower. I talked to Kohler because it was only happening taking a shower. They said with tankless heaters like the Rinnai, low gallonage heads will not switch quickly from cold back to Hot as you ajust the shower temperature. They sent me a larger gallonage head (Free) and the problem was solved.By the way Rinnai’s warranties are garbage. I had my heat exchanger start leaking just before the five year deadline. I called Rinnai, they said I had to pick from a list of their suppliers to look at it. They did steer me to one. The price was outrages, to just look at it, and that does not come off any repair bills.
His main function was to try and void the warranty; they talked to Rinnai on the phone while I was there. The installation was good, so they could not do that. Then they shipped the heat exchanger to them. When it came, they called and asked me do I want it installed. After they told me the price I told them to forget it, I could buy a new unit for the combined price of the inspection and the installation. I asked them to give me the exchanger. They did and I installed it myself.

Why is the 007 taco pump no good with an indirect Hot water heater?Diagram for piping boiler
@ November 3, 2010 9:45 AM in Diagram for piping boiler
I have a four zone hydonic system with the taco valves on the supply side of the system. I would like a diagram to mount honeywell valves on the return side. and the pump setup setup to pump up.Thanx
Anticipators

The anticpators were not in the position that you said they should be . I moved them there and am ordering a 50 volt transformer. Iwill see if that helps.Thank you
570's
@ March 18, 2010 7:39 PM in # Zone Valves to a 40 volt Transformer?
Yes they are 570's and they are wired direct direct to the thermos. I have to confess I don't know what a thermostat anticipator is. Somtimes a valve will not open when when the thermostat is turned up if I push the valve to manual then back to auto it will work. It is not always the same valve. All of the heads have been changed. I still have the problem occasionally.# Zone Valves to a 40 volt Transformer?
@ March 17, 2010 11:50 PM in # Zone Valves to a 40 volt Transformer?
I have four zone valves on my 4 zone hot water boiler, with a 40 volt transformer. one zone was added and the valves have been erratic ever since. I have read somewhere, that 3 taco valves are the max that should be on a system with a 40 volt transformer. Is this true?suction side

Thank you, I think I will put my new setup that way.Jim
Zone valves better on return?

Are zone valves better on the return than on the supply?Converting
@ March 1, 2010 7:59 PM in Converting to pumping away
Thanks guys, all good suggestions. It makes it a lot easier, then the way I was thinking of doing it.Converting to pumping away
@ March 1, 2010 12:02 PM in Converting to pumping away
I want to convert my system to pumping away. I currently have a Utica boiler with three Honeywell zone valves on the returns. What would be the best way to pipe this system. It is not quite the same as the setup on Page 50 of “Pumping Away” as those vaves are on the supply side of the system.
Also why are ball valves necessary after the zone valves to purge the system. Would not the zone valves be “Normally closed” with the power off? Does that mean each one would have to be open manually to purge the system.
Thank you
