@ March 4, 2011 9:17 PM in Navian tankless gas water hearer / boiler

Ok, When I was thinking of getting a on Demand water heater I had read
pretty much nothing but bad things of the navien. I then heard that the
2 gen Models which are out now I guess were better so I decied to try
one for my self.

My house has 4 sinks to bath tubs (1 is 100 Gal Whirlpool) 2 showers dish washer and washing machine.

I take showers some times that are pushing 45 Min and not once have I
ever ran out of hot water, I have ran two baths at once and never have
had a problem the water stays hot and the temp doesnt fluctuate much at
all if at all. I have some hi out put water fixtures also.

If I put the unit on recurlation mode it keeps the water hot in the
line and the hot water is pretty instant when its called for and it can
be adjusted to recurulated at certain times. The unit is in basement is
pretty quite and not bad looking its tucked up out of the way.

I leave teh water temp set at 125 Deg.

I am in NY so the ground water is cold at this time of year and the
reps from navien were worried about this but not one issue. I can turn
the water temp up but 125 is plenty hot.

Figured Id tell you guys and I am very happy with the service ( Had set
up questions ) and the unit it self and I do reccommended it.

@ March 4, 2011 9:12 PM in Need A/C Help Haveing a heck of a time.

Hi, Ok I know this is Prob not the best board for this but I have a Sliding Casement windows ( SIde to Side slide )with a Opening of Just under 14.5 Inchs. I need A/C Units to fit these windows.  I can't seem to find any that will fit. I am in the process of getting quotes from Central air and split unit guys but just in case I cant swing the cost does anyone know where I can find standard a/c units for this style window. Thanks a lot

Not Sure

@ January 31, 2011 11:10 AM in My thoughts on my NAVIEN 240 A On demand water heater.

I am not sure I think its somewhere around the 40 Degtemp at this time of the year.

Not sure how people don't know how they work. You turn hot water on and there it is hot water.

I have a 50 Gal hot water heater on Stand by in case some goes wrong and I have to order parts. I only did this because I had a fairly new tank sitting around and figure why not.

I have seen other units that were undersized for the application and the people werent happy with them.

@ January 4, 2011 11:05 AM in Have a 50 Gal back up Propane water heater, How Do I store when not useing it? Worried about bacteria.

I have the hot water cranked all teh way up, will that kill the bugs?  Should I use bleach and let that sit in there after I drain it?

That was my original plan was to do that, But the navien does just fine for my water needs. I can run two showers and a bath with no prob at teh same time.

So

What do you guys think the little water bug like things that were in there were?

I cranked it all the way up and lt get as hot as possiable. Ill let it run for a day then shut it down. I may never need it but I figured I had it mine aswell hook it up.

I that there was still water in the bottom of teh tank after it drained and that  there was alot of sludge from the anode rod in theere. The walls looked good though.

I have a AO SMITH 50 Gal Propane Hot water heater that I plumbed in as a back up in case my Navien On Demand goes down.

Should I Drain it?

With water in and out shut off?

I dont plan On using unless needed I am going to shut gas off to it. I
have it running right now With the hot out shut off just to make sure
it works and I have heat control all the way up would like to kill any
diesease.

Should I put bleach in it and leave it fool with in and out vavles shut?

There was a few little bug looking like things in it when I flushed. it
sat openfor a little while and the anode rod slugged up the bottom, I
changed teh aluminum for a magesisum one.

@ December 19, 2010 9:42 PM in SHould I adjust the speed of teh fan on my forced hot air system?

A 1/4 of my house has a crawl space the rest is a basement, tonight I wrapped most of the pipe under there with old insulation and the air now coming out of the vents is def warmer.

I hvae one pipe in my basement that used to be hooked up to a floor vent but that vent was removed due to remolding, I have it running into the basemen now, should I put a register on it or just turn the flapper vavle in the pip to like half shut?

SHould I adjust the speed of teh fan on my forced hot air system?

@ December 19, 2010 9:53 AM in SHould I adjust the speed of teh fan on my forced hot air system?

I read that I can increase teh speed of the fan on my Hot Air furnace by rotating the pulley on the motor forward, is this a good idea? the two furthest vents dont have much air coming out and the pressure is weak and the air is cold.

Any tips on doing this? Pros?Cons?

Please help find Thermostats with Temp Differential for hot oil hot air.

@ December 19, 2010 9:51 AM in Please help find Thermostats with Temp Differential for hot oil hot air.

Ok I have forced hot air and I installed a Honeywell digital Thermostat that replaced a old mercury one. I just redone this house and have only been in it two nights the honeywell made the furnace kit on like every 10 min after it had shut off.

I then repaleced with a Braeburn 5000 that has a 2 deg temp diff so the heat is set at 70 and it doesnt kick back on till 68 ( It seems to be kicking on at 69) but it is better.

I am looking for Thermostats that offer more of a Differential maybe some where up to 4 or 5 Deg.

Also wheres the best place to get one on line?
