Replacing a gas hot water system boiler in an old 10-plex apt bldg.The Peerless GM07 natural gas commercial boiler bid is about $8,000 less than the SlantFin Galaxy GG 300 from a competing vendor.
Both bids use basically the same setup, 2 staged and alternating boilers with Tekmar controls, each with the same efficiency rating and BTU ratings. Both vendors are respected, longtime local HVAC companies with good reputations for service.
I can't figure why the large spread in bids ($12,000-20,000). Is the SlantFin equipment better built, or does it have a better maintenance track record? Any feedback or experience would be appreciated.
