Prestige excellence water piping with recirc

@ September 3, 2013 9:28 PM in Prestige excellence water piping with recirc

Im trying to make heads or tails of their piping schematic. I am in MA and have a second diptube as per mfg instruct. I don't understand why I cant bring the recirc line back to that connection instaed of using what they show as a "cross" in the CW line. Any thoughts would be appreciated  Have done plenty of solo.s w indirects.

LWCO/FEEDER ISSUE

@ February 23, 2013 9:13 AM in LWCO/FEEDER ISSUE

I have a customer w a 7 yr old WM boiler- Hydrolevel 450 lwco and a M/M 101? auto feed. the lwco works when draining the excess water from the boiler. Problem is when I shut the power off to service the burner, the feeder feeds when I turn the power back on, regardless of water level and is overfeeding. I think the LWCO is faulty. Am I wrong?

yes

Need help with controlling pumps

@ December 2, 2012 9:23 PM in Need help with controlling pumps

I have just installed a Biasi B10-4 oil fired boiler with a Hydrolevel control to an existing system that has 3 zones controlled by Taco zone valves and a Smart 50 indirect on a pump. Supply house suggested a Taco ZVC 404 because I can allegedly control a DHW pump off of it on the priority zone. By following the wiring diagram we (electrician and myself) tied in the DHW pump and the system pump as per the Taco instructions. When one of the heating zones calls, the valve opens and the system pump does its thing. When the DHW calls both pumps come on. How do I get the system pump to NOT operate? I am not tied into the hydrolevel control cuz I figured the Taco board will control everything.

New mod con w old boiler mate

@ November 15, 2012 8:51 PM in New mod con w old boiler mate

I recently did an oil to gas conversion. Burnham V74 to a TT-110. Use the same 17 year old 40 gal Amtrol boiler mate. Piped it like it was ( w 007 on return) and got a call from customer saying "used to be able to get 4 showers now only 2 what gives? Tried a new OO-R w ifc and installed it on supply side of dhw coil and removed leaky swetcheck from return pipe. seems to be ok.... circ is on medium speed and dhw priority is on and working. if I get a call where would you go , other than replacing indirect?

Thanks

@ May 16, 2012 3:07 PM in boiler feed on or off?

Thanks to all the info. Had always been told/taught to leave the feed on. I have a good friend who lost $$$$$ when he and the family went on a ski trip and came home to find the bottom floor of a split ranch turned into an aquarium from a feeder that came apart at the diaphragm. Now I leave them off. Most of the modcons out there today do have a pressure safety/ lwco of sorts which will protect the small mass boilers. Right?

Thanks

boiler feed on or off?

@ May 11, 2012 9:20 AM in boiler feed on or off?

Ive been installing hydronic heating for 28+ years and have a question for you wallies. Leave the PRV on or off? Ive seen houses flooded because of PRV's coming apart at the seams and seen boilers with no apparent leaks run out of water.... What are your thoughts, if any?
