@ March 21, 2014 10:42 PM in Freon leak vs. moistureOn a job many years ago at a Baush and Loam lab that made eye drops. The lab had to have a very low humidity. There were actually two A/C units and evaps were one in front of the other. The discharge of one into the supply of the other. Well the RH was still to high in the room and the job was done as specked. Some real smart guy came out and explain that even though the supply duct to the lab was pressurised moisture was entering the duct. We sealed the supply and the job ran as designed. And I don't see the difference between air pressure and refrigerant pressure.
@ March 21, 2014 1:49 PM in Freon leak vs. moistureI would think that vapor or moisture pressure would be the controlling pressure here and not system gas pressure, Since the system piping is dry and the outdoor air would normally have a higher moisture content I would think that moisture would enter the system even on the high side..

@ March 18, 2014 8:16 PM in Looking for some info.Pilot burner flame when the main burner lites. Does it pull away from the bi metal sensor, or does the pilot flame diminish in anyway? It may just need a good cleaning of the pilot. Do not use any thing to poke into the pilot orifice. Use air pressure to clean orifice
@ March 12, 2014 10:14 PM in Raypak Boiler Low Temperature ReadingNot given a fountain of info with your post. So we have to start somewhere. Is the thermostat set in heat and higher then room temp?
@ March 11, 2014 5:44 PM in Mono Flow IssuesPump installed correctly? Is it pumping the right direction?
@ March 11, 2014 5:38 PM in Gas ignitor only lasts one heating systemAnd model would be helpful.
@ March 11, 2014 5:23 PM in Pumping away ? I must have something messed up! HelpThe extroll tank is piped on it's side like that that has to be a air trap if you are coming off the bottom of the air seperater like you said.
@ March 9, 2014 4:56 PM in residential split system shuts down due to overheatingCould be a dirty condenser coil. It may also be low on refrigerant. Most newer outdoor unit 10 years or so have single row condenser coil and all you need is hose pressure and no chems are needed. Some older units have a split cond. coil and you need to remove the top of the unit and clean between the coils.
@ March 9, 2014 4:50 PM in converting from oil furnace air heat to heat pump with furnace as my back-upMaking your life way to difficult. Since you already have a lennox furnace stick with a lennox heat pump. If you do not currently have a variable speed blower stick with a single speed HP.You will most likly need to run a new low voltage wire to both the outdoor unit and the indoor tstat. Carrier makes a two wire indoor stat that will work with your old and new Lennox equipment.
@ March 5, 2014 11:30 PM in Condensate drain trap question:To keep critters and the like out because you are right. They would have to hold there breath for 20 feet before the could gain entry to your house because the line as you described it is full of water.

@ March 5, 2014 10:51 PM in Help needed on flame rollout switch keeping trippingThe pressure switch is sticking and not opening when the blower shuts off, hence the roll out.

@ February 23, 2014 12:59 PM in Tim; New IFGC QuestionI got from Lennox.
Dear Lennox Partners,
Please review the attached article from the WSSC Regulatory Services Group about Chimney Vent Restrictions taking affect December 1st in Maryland. This will restrict the use if not totally eliminate the use of Chimney Adaptor Kits for 80% Furnace installations and require a Chimney Liner instead which will likely add $1,200 to $2,500 to the cost of the job.
Please contact the WSSC Regulatory Services Group for clarification.
Attached was a PDF file That I can't copy and paste here because I don't know how. But it listed section 504.2.9 and table 504.3 and the 7 times area rule. My gut feeling is they are trying to get rid of 80% furnaces all together
