@ May 1, 2013 11:23 AM in Question regarding boiler sizing and IDWThe triangle Tube 110. That will heat the ID quickly and and keep you nice and cozy.
@ May 1, 2013 10:53 AM in subcoolSight glass on start up, on a hot day with a big load on the evap you are over charged. I don't normally use a sight glass on A/C mostly refrig. systems. I chagre to sub cool after a pull down and the evap tep at or less then 40* F. So there you have it 9 different ways and they all work.
@ April 30, 2013 11:41 AM in Advice for stuck aquastat bulbFilling the well with oil and then heat. Put it in a vice or something to hold it up.
@ April 30, 2013 11:37 AM in ball busterDropped a" a little " how much is that 195# 175#? Did you purge with the nitrogen first and then pressurize or just press. when there was still air in the system. Maybe if it was the latter that may explain the little drop.
@ April 29, 2013 10:57 PM in Possible To Move Gas Furnace & Water Tank To Different Location? To move everything. You have to move duct work or piping, flue, gas line, electric ect. Flue length has limitations. Or you have to by new equipment that is direct vented. better off working around it.
@ April 29, 2013 10:51 PM in separate boiler/system pump required? It's a 70k boiler. Spend the extra money on a pump and P/S the piping and sleep like a baby.

@ April 29, 2013 10:36 PM in ball busterLeaked at your gauges. Temp will have no effect on the nitrogen. You had to open them when you did the soldering for the 2 pressure test and I'm sure when you re pressurized you made sure they were on good and tight.
@ April 23, 2013 9:07 AM in Outdoor resetSomething the idiots in congress might do, but i'm not aware of it.
@ April 21, 2013 7:14 PM in vacuumYour forgetting about vapor pressure, which means regardless of the refrigerant pressure in the pipe if the vapor pressure is lower in the pipe [which it should be if you just pulled a vacuum] then in the air surrounding the pipe you will introduce moisture back into the system. Basically the same way moisture gets into the supply side of a duct if you don't seal all the joints with tape or duct seal.
@ April 21, 2013 5:54 PM in Indoor outdoor reset vs other valvesNeed a new plumber. While a outdoor reset control may be a good idea, it most definitely won't solve your problem of the system running continuously
@ April 20, 2013 10:35 PM in heat pumps and old apartment buildingsSays, anything is possible, but how big a check do you want too write?
@ April 20, 2013 12:03 PM in Direct Pump TT Solo 110 with 3 zonesDirect pump that boiler with that piping design. You must primary secondary.
@ April 14, 2013 10:54 PM in subcoolA bad TEV not letting refrig through and causing refig to back up into condenser.
@ April 14, 2013 10:50 PM in vacuumTo evacuate a system is after all the holes are filled and there are no more leaks. Rim shot boom. Take my wife, please take my wife. Or as Tech says after all the mositure is gone or in his case the flood has subsided.
@ April 11, 2013 7:51 AM in Never Cleaned Munchkin 80Mservice tech in your house again. Like the others said it takes less then 15 mins to actually look at the HX. And maybe and hour to clean. I have open up Munchkins after many many years only to find a nice claen HX.
@ April 9, 2013 8:18 AM in More efficient water heater.the rest of the year off and invent away to get my wife to stop nagging me.
@ April 9, 2013 8:10 AM in Indirect installation on Alpine with MCBA controlAnd my brains not fully awake yet but as far as questions 1 & 2 go I would use the piping off the manual that came with your boiler and not the "new manual". Question 3, you want only one pump running so your recovery time on the indirect is as short as possible.
@ April 7, 2013 1:29 PM in radiator use as A/C?No condensation then there is really no cooling. If you can't lower the dew point whats the point? On the other hand if you take a beer out of the frig and set it on the table and you get no condensate on it you shouldnt need the cooling.
