@ January 4, 2014 5:47 PM in What happen?A Grunfos Alph with is supposed to adjust its flow rate. Was just wondering why it seems to have changed so drastically in the middle of the season? When that zone called earlyer in Sept.it was pumping maybe 1 gpm.
@ January 4, 2014 5:41 PM in Low heat from hydronic baseboard radiatorsTo me like the arrows are pointing toward each other which may be correct if you w2ant to force water down but the piped appear to be pointingup. Also the distancee between the tee's should be the same as the lenth of baseboard. 48" of BB 48" between tees.
@ January 4, 2014 5:27 PM in Trane xe 90Also the furnace that had faulty connections on the yellow wires to the limit switch? Seems like it was the 9 wire plug that was the culprit.
@ January 4, 2014 5:18 PM in SR 504 exp 4 zone switching relayGreen light normally means the vavle is powered and the red normally means it's fully open. Is the pump running?
@ January 4, 2014 5:10 PM in What happen? This heating season I added a buffer tank to a seven zone system that is a mixture of cooper fin baseboard and raditors. I have a TT solo 110 and taco 3 wire zone valves. All is well and heating fine. When I first started the system this winter with BT I noticed that the alph 15-55 pump was moving much less water. With all zones calling befor the Buffer tank install I was moving 5 gal per min. After BT I was down to 3 GPM. Which I figured was less resistance. Now I'm up to 6 GPM with all zones and 3 with a single zone that has 2 eight foot BB and one small under the window rad 4 section. I pulled the pump this afternoon and found nothing in the impeller. Why the change in GPM?
@ January 2, 2014 10:41 PM in Where Did My Condensate Go?Dew point for nat. gas is 136*F I think or close to it. Is your return water temp above that?
@ January 2, 2014 10:35 PM in Wrong Carlin head positioning bar impact?Be more concerned with condensing in the flue. Since you went from about 214000 btu to 130000 btu.
@ January 2, 2014 10:26 PM in What took the place of the Weil McLain CGS boilerThe CGI series.
@ January 2, 2014 10:20 PM in Bell and Gossett 100 F59 Locked up?the 007 is a direct replacement for the BG100. If your system piping is not .larger the 2" you will be fine. Since you have to get to the water side you might as well replace that BG with a wet rotor pump but the bearing assm is cheeper in most cases then a 007.
@ January 2, 2014 10:15 PM in Weil McLean Boiler KnockingRaising the pressure in the boiler by adding water and see if it stops. If it does you have a flow problem.
@ January 2, 2014 10:14 PM in Weil McLean Boiler KnockingThe Mod.# Would be cga-6 or something like that.
@ January 2, 2014 10:06 PM in aire-flo gas furnace not reaching target temp, i have flash codeWas limil OR roll out. Roll out would be a manual reset not auto.
@ January 2, 2014 6:57 PM in Spill Switch Not Attached / DanglingWhere there any wires connected to the switch? It sounds like they forgot to install it. It is very obvious where it goes but what happen to the wires?
@ January 2, 2014 6:43 PM in prolem with lennox pulse furnaceI had a twenty four year old pulse that would not light at all this season. I replace both flapper valves that came it a tune up kit. It was the only way I could get them and it fired right up.
@ August 21, 2013 10:31 PM in Older HVAC Ductwork & AsbestosIn the phone book. There are pleanty of asbestos people out there. Most will try to charge double or triple for test results the next day. Just say you can wait the week or 10 days and you normally get the results back in two or three days anyway.
@ August 14, 2013 10:53 AM in Leak sealBoth Superseal, the one with the one time use hose and the other one that you can reuse a hose that is sold seperatly. Had a lot of trouble with superseal. Could not get it out of the can and stopped using it. So far with the other [sorry I can't remember the brand but in the DC area I've only seen the two ] I have been back to add freon on one. I'm not inclined to use either anymore.
@ August 14, 2013 10:29 AM in high head pressuresReal close at those Goodman coils from that era the fins are not flat. They have little perferations in them so the air passes through the fins as well as over them. Sounds like a good idea but really tuff to clean. No matter which way you hose out the dirt and lint [ why is the dryer vent always next to the condenser ] hang up on those holes.
