Hello!

I’ve been writing for several smart and successful Wallies over the past several months and they’ve been thrilled with the results. I’ve been creating and polishing web content and newsletters that make customers sit up and pay attention. I’ve been very busy, but since today is National Grammar Day (a writer’s favorite holiday!), I’ve decided to celebrate by taking on three new clients. As long as your business isn’t a competitor of any of my current clients, I can make you look better than you already do. Feeling lucky? Email me at sdwritingservices@gmail.com or call (434) 806-2098 to learn more.

Spread some cheer... and news about your business!

@ November 18, 2013 8:13 PM in Spread some cheer... and news about your business!

The holidays are knocking and 2014 is peeking its head around the corner. You’re busy and getting busier with the essential business of keeping people safe and warm.

As busy as you are, now’s the time to tell your customers how much you care. The better you make them feel, the better you’ll look. Thank them for their business this past year. Provide them with some helpful tips for staying warm this winter. Let your customers know more about the wonderful and money-saving services you can provide in the coming year. You keep people comfortable. Let me help you tell them about how well you do it. I can create newsletters and emails that embrace your customers just as warmly as the heat you deliver.

Check out www.sdwritingservices.com for more about how I can help make you look good in print in a timely and affordable way.

Happy Holidays!

Go (Proofread Your Work) Irish!

@ September 5, 2013 12:25 PM in Need writing help?

Oh, the horror!  My beloved Notre Dame printed beverage cups for their home opener against Temple last weekend with "Figthing Irish".

http://espn.go.com/ncf/notebook/_/page/gamedayKickoff0905/week-2

This isn't the first time ND has made a spelling mistake.  My husband's diploma (and the diplomas of all graduates that year) had a typo - the word "chairman" was misspelled.  I can't imagine what it must have cost to reprint that many diplomas on parchment.  Yikes!

At least they won the game.  :)

Figthing for an error-free print world,

Kelly

That Tricky "Your"

@ August 26, 2013 10:17 AM in Need writing help?

I just saw a billboard for a local used car business on I-78.  It featured their website, which included "your approved".  Now the misused "your" is in their domain name AND on their large and expensive billboard!  They should have used a proofreader!

Hmmm...

They seemed to be stating the obvious.  I sure hope they found one!

Even newspapers make mistakes...

@ August 18, 2013 5:18 PM in Need writing help?

This weekend our local newspaper had a headline that mentioned a township's plans to seek grants for a "Costo" project.  The article then detailed efforts to fund a Costco-anchored shopping center.  Even newspapers sometimes make (and miss) mistakes.  "What's a Costo?"  I wondered.  It's a good thing this article wasn't trying to sell me something!

Good writing makes your business look so much better.

@ August 13, 2013 1:25 PM in Need writing help?

If you don't take the time to present yourself well in print, it makes customers wonder where else you might cut corners.  I have walked away from restaurants because of a sloppily-written menu.  If the restaurant is lazy with its print material, it might not be so careful with its food preparation!  This holds true in every business.

I spot mistakes in writing so easily that sometimes I feel like the grammar equivalent of the kid in the movie "The Sixth Sense."  "I see comma splices!"

If you want smart-looking newsletters, brochures, letters, or website content, I can help!
