Sooty Registers
@ January 26, 2011 4:23 PM in sooty, hot water registers
It is important to remember that baseboard heating works by convection. It is basically just circulating the cold air from across the floor over the fin tube and into the room. Any dirt/soot particles in the air from a fireplace or from the burning of candles can cause the streaking/ghosting effect that is being seen on the walls and ceiling. No smoke candles and making sure the damper and fireplace are in proper working order should eliminate this problem.

Slant/Fin....LOLSteamhead is right
@ April 20, 2010 12:47 PM in Heating system recommendations
Once again I think Steamhead is right. Oil boilers do not behave like this when porperly installed. The Riello BF-5 is a great burner. I too think that there is a cross contamination porblem.Contact a well trained technician, he/she will solve the problem without ripping parts off your boiler.
Goodluck! And don't be afraid to conact or reach out to the Techs at Riello/Becket for help.

Bobcat Boilers

I would first like to apologize for you not getting a response to your email. Can you let me know who you wrote to so that I can follow up? Our current IOM does in fact state that the igniter should be replaced anually. High Efficiency Gas Boilers maintenance can be compared to the maintnence difference required on high performance automobiles versus our everyday vehicles. The igniter is essentially this equipments spark plug. As such it is a key component to these boilers. Compared to the competitive landscape, our anual maintenance is very simple and inexpensive. The igniter itself has an intgegral flame snesor which is really the critical part. Our next printing of the IOM will have some changes. We will be stating that we reccomend that the igniter assembly be inspected/changed every two years. Our goal is to make this the most worry free HE Gas Boiler on the market. The Bobcat comes with a rock solid warranty not full of "voiding" issues and a free 5 year Parts and Labor Warranty. Top all that with the fact that it was desgned and manufactured right here in LI New York. I want to thank those of you who have tried this product. Remember if you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact myslef or any of my other collegues here at Slant/Fin.

HE II
@ July 16, 2009 12:57 PM in Where to find \"Hydronic Explorer II\"?
To All: First off thanks to all for the compliments on the HE II. Secondly the HE II was discontinued because it needed to be updated quite a bit. It had boiler products that we no longer manufactured and did not include newer boilers. There was nothing wrong with the programs calculations. If you call and speak to our customer service department, I am sure we can find a CD to send to you. Thanks, Bob Flanagan Vice President-Sales Slant/Fin Corp. 516-484-2600WOHLER

Also check out WOHLER....you can call Peter Cullen and get all the info you need from him or email Peter at p.cullen@wohlerusa.com The Tech Serv. Dept. at Slant/Fin uses this equipment. Very reliable and the calibration is not a hastle at all. Good luck with your search, I am sure that you will not do bad with any of the companies reccomended. I have to tell you that anyone installing the new High Efficiency Boilers should have one of these in their truck. These boilers, regardless of the factory settings, have to be set up in the field. Ken, No apologies necessary. I have never met you but you have a well earned reputation as a great educator. Let me know how Tech. Serv. does with your situation. Have a great weekend. Robert, as always, thanks!!! Best Regards, BobBobcat
@ March 27, 2009 4:44 PM in SlantFin Bobcat
Ken: Nothing touchy at all about your query. Delayed ingnitions on gas boilers have been around for years and years. The Bobcat just like any other gas boiler is open to this type of ignition failure. Boilers are not designed to have delayed ignitions and the Bobcat when set up properly enjoys a nice smooth light off. To solve your problem, which we don't even know is your problem, requires many questions to be asked. Thus far I have no specifics on the problem you raise. Again, this is not the forum to conduct this exchange. Long before emails and websites a certain gentleman invented the telephone, lets try that and see if we can solve you problem. Thanks again, BobBobcat Boiler
@ March 27, 2009 4:08 PM in SlantFin Bobcat
Ken: Again, if you have experienced a delayed ignition it would point out some kind of set up problem. There are many questions that have to be asked before an answer to this type of question can be provided. This is why a conversation with Tech. Serv. is much more productive than email strings. There are many of these boilers in the field operating to specification. I encourage you to call and speak to our Tech. Serv. Dept. directly. I am not sure if you are refering to your own boiler or just what the situation is. You are correct, Dan constructed a great site for the sharing of information. It is not however a Technical Services site that is conducive to solving individual problems such as the one you have raised. Best Regards, BobTechnical Services
