I am bald and I am in sales for a plumbing & heating wholesaler I could rent out my forehead to manufactures and make some extra cash when I go out and make sales calls. well not with a permanent tattoo how about just stickers that i can change from day to day and customer to customer so all the lines that I sell can get exposure and I can make even more $$$$$

tankless gas water heater & grundfos comfort pump recirc system

@ April 21, 2008 8:40 PM in tankless gas water heater & grundfos comfort pump recirc system

Hi Has anyone installed a tankless gas water heater (NORITZ, RINNAI OT TAKAGI) with a GRUNDFOS Comfort Pump System model UP15-10SU7P/TLC (grundfos pump with comfort valve no return line needed to be run back to the water heater.)? I know if you use a recirculation pump on a NORITZ tankless gas water heater the heat exchanger warranty goes from 10 years down to 3 years. I was told to come out of the tankless gas water heater and go into a 2 to 6 gallon electric water heater and then use a recirculation pump from there so you would not be recirculating through the tankless gas water heater and reducing the warranty on the heat exchanger. I just wanted to know if anyone has installed a system this way and if it worked for them? Thanks for the info. Thanks Bob Eck

I would look at using the triangle tube prestige solo with their phase III stainless steel indirect water heater or their new prestige excellence 95% AFUE boiler and ss indirect 3 GPM / 180 GPH all in one unit. please consider using a storage tank to raise cold water temp before it goes into the indirect water heater.

@ April 2, 2008 6:54 AM in Electric Tankless DHW

we sell eemax go to www.eemaxinc.com check out their whole house electric tankless water heaters. you could also go with a 50 - 80 - 119 gallon solar water heater tank from heat transfer products go to www.htproducts.com with a coil in the bottom of the tank fo solar and a electric water heater element and put the solar panels up on the roof now. heat transfer products also has a solar tank that you would use the botton coil for solar all year and you could use the top coil from your boiler in the winter time to back up what there is not enough sun. if you use this two coil solar tank you still would need the electric water heater as back up in the summer when the boiler is not running. I beleve the US government still has a $2000.00 federal tax credit for solar also check with your state for solar tax credits. you could also look at using a NORITZ tankless gas water heater using propane. these noritz units work great and just like electric tankless water heaters they both only use energy when you need hot water. I would also look at putting 1.6GPM alson shower heads or American Standard 1.5GPM shower heads in your showers. if you have room you could also install a well mate ut80 or ut120 gallon fiberglass holding tank to raise the water temp before going into you water heater no matter if you go tankless electric on gas or if you go strait solar with electric back up.

Check out Triangle Tube Prestige Excellence 95% AFUE condensing gas boiler with built in 14 gallon stainless steel indirect water heater. Indirect delivers 3GPM 180GPH. I also would look at using 1.6 GPM shower head from ALSONS and this indirect could do two showers at one time. If you have room for a 80 gallon tank I would look at using a Well Mate UT80 fiberglass storage tank to take the cold incoming water temp and take it up from 45*F to 55* or 60* this way the boiler and indirect would not use as much energy to deliver your hot domestic water. also the prestige excellence boiler is great for low temp radiant heating jobs and with its outdoor sensor the boiler will only fire at the BTU load required to heat the home and no higher. This is a nice unit.

@ March 26, 2008 11:44 AM in who makes short water heater

triangle tube makes one model phase III stainless steel indirect water heater that is horizontal and you can mount it high up on the wall and run it off the boiler. check it out at www.triangletube.com

water heater

@ March 18, 2008 6:33 AM in best hot water heater

what do you need the water heater for commercial or residential job? A O Smith and Rheem are good units. I sell A O Smith and it sounds like a commercial job. If so make sure you install a commercial water heater. When installing A O Smith residential water heaters in a commercial job the 6 year warranty goes down to 1 year warranty. We also sell NORITZ tankless gas waters that hang on the wall and are direct sidewall vented or vented vertical with NORITZ stainless steel vent pipe. you can not vent it into a chimney. NORITZ has units that are made for residential jobs with 10 year heat exchanger warranty and 3 year parts warranty plus ASME commercial models that have 5 year heat exchanger and parts warranty. you can quick connect two models for large residential jobs and on the commercial side you can connect up to 24 units together. check out their web site at www.noritz.com tankless gas water heaters only use energy when you need hot water the unit does not maintain a tank full of hot water all the time like a tank type water heater. alos when a 100 gallon tank type water heater tank burst there can be a lot of water damage. every job is different some jobs are better for tank type water heaters and other jobs tankless is better. this is where the professional contractor knows what best to use on each job.

TT PRESTIGE EXCELLENCE

@ March 16, 2008 2:22 PM in Triangle Tube Prestige Excellence

They are now available from triangle tube. yes they claim it puts out 180GPH DHW. this boiler will work great for space heating and should be good on a 1.5 bath house. I offer customers a 1.6gpm alsons shower head that makes it feel like a 2.5 gpm shower head. please remember a shower faucet mixes hot and cold water together and comes up with 2.5gpm or the 1.6gpm flow. you could install a fiberglass holding tank to raise the temp of cold water before it goes into the indirect on this prestige excellence boiler or use the TT regular prestige condensing gas boiler and TT phase III smart stainless steel indirect water heaters 20 gallons to 119 gallon models depending on your domestic hot water needs. great products.

@ March 9, 2008 7:42 PM in Indirect waterheaters opperating costs

Like Andrew said you could go solar befor going into the indirect or go tankless. But how much will you save and how long will it be for the pay back period?

@ March 9, 2008 7:34 PM in home runs and recirc line

I had a heating contractor that built his new house using a pex manifold system with home runs to all fixtuers. he installed the grundfos comfort pump on the indirect water heater and installed 4 comfort valves in different bathrooms and he told me it did not work.

tankless gas water heater

@ March 9, 2008 7:18 PM in tankless gas water heater

has anyone installed tankless gas water heater in a crawl space? If so did the home owner complain that the unit was loud? any other reasons why it would not be a good idea to install on in a crawl space. I would be using a noritz unit with direct vent (seales combustion).

@ March 9, 2008 7:07 PM in tankless WHs

Anyone that is installing tankless gas water heaters for domestic hot water are any of you installing a fiberglass holding tank before going into the tankless water heater to take the cold water temp from 45* F in the winter up to room temp like 60* - 65* F so the tankless would give more GPM than if water entering the unit is at 45* F?

This house must be warm when the sun is up what is the problem?????? Oh the sun goes down! long winter nights! :(

@ March 8, 2008 7:07 AM in Triangle tube woes....what to do??

call the factory in new jersey at 856-228-8881 ask for tech or ask for marty haurin. if the unit is not piped in correctly get a piping drawing and tell the home owner that the system was installed wrong and give them a price as to correct the problem before it gets worse. I is not the fault of the unit that it was installed wrong.

@ March 5, 2008 4:05 AM in Upside down expansion tank ( Ron Jr. )

nice installation on the v8 and indirect. I work for EPSCO Allentown PA. PLBG & HTG wholesaler and we sell burnham I noticed you pumpes away with circulators on each zone. have you ever used the grundfos superbrute circulators ups1558fc with the check valve built in and with three speeds. when pumping away and using the superbrute circulator there is no need to use extra flow control valves saving time and money on each zone. they also come with a 3 year warranty. I sell a lot to my heating contractors and they love them. we also sell them the grundfos comfort pump domestic hot water recirculation pumps so the home owner does not have to wait for hot water at their faucets saving them time and thousands and thousands of gallons of water year after year. check out the grundfos comfort pumps at www.waitnot.com this system is easy to install and does not require a return line to be run back to the indirect water heater or any other type water heater. great add on sale and you can you can grow your business with this product. any questions you can email me direct at eckrobert@rcn.com in a year with a tough economy I am trying to give my contractors as many ways to grow their businees as possiable. good luck with your business in the future.
