Yeah sure

@ December 27, 2011 8:43 AM in steam boiler

I`m calling bs on this story.

Do you have

@ October 3, 2011 6:01 AM in Boiler running but water coming out cool most of the time

a boiler with a tankless coil?

If so I would check to see if the coil needs to be flushed out to promote better heat transfer.

How old is your boiler?

Is it a recessed type plug?

@ June 5, 2011 7:00 AM in Plug removal from boiler

If so good luck,I`ve snapped breaker bars trying to get those things out and ended up having to drill and fillet the stupid things.
Complained to Burnham but to no avail.

Sounds like a nightmare

@ March 4, 2011 9:18 PM in Can't touch this - not even going to try

Why doesn`t your friend insist on using your company instead?

No good choices?

@ October 13, 2010 7:53 PM in Is it time for these snowmen to go?

Who told you that?
Anything would be an improvement over what you`ve got there and yes there are good smaller boilers out there.

Not required here

@ October 4, 2010 6:26 AM in Is a BFP required on my steam fill line if no autofill?

Like you said, would serve no purpose.

Age of boiler

@ April 4, 2010 10:09 AM in Millivolt steam system

Why not put the money you will spend on all this towards a new boiler?

I feel it would be money well spent in the long run rather than try to retrofit something over thirty years old.

They didn`t do him

@ February 27, 2010 8:11 AM in The wholesaler said this would work!

any favors did they.
At least they could have given him a model #.

I take it

@ February 26, 2010 4:21 PM in The wholesaler said this would work!

someone visited home depot?

LWCO

@ February 22, 2010 10:15 AM in "Resting Water Level"

Is it probe type or float?

Reason being is some electronic probe types stop the heating cycle intermittently in order for return water to make it back to the boiler.

Hard to tell

@ February 21, 2010 10:06 AM in How to deal with this dripping from the gas steam boiler?

but looking at the 1st pic it looks like they took a few shortcuts with the equalizer as well as piping it in copper.

A few more pics would be handy to really see what else they did wrong.

boiler drain cap

@ February 20, 2010 8:44 AM in How to deal with this dripping from the gas steam boiler?

That should take care of it.

Looks like your boiler has other piping issues as well.

Indirect?

@ January 15, 2010 7:15 AM in Blowby coming on after working on system, cant stop pressure from rising

Possible that the indirect is defective?

Leak

@ January 1, 2010 4:39 PM in Major leak between valve and rad--what to do?

I think you`re talking about the union?

If so than you can completely shut the radiator hand valve until you can get it looked at.

The #5 is an air vent.

Doesn`t look right

@ December 7, 2009 6:29 PM in Unusual Hartford loop and near boiler piping

Doesn`t  look right to me,no header to speak of and bushings on the outlets of the boiler.

Pressure relief valve

@ October 24, 2009 1:20 PM in Steam heater

Set to open at 15 psi on steam boilers,it should not be doing what it`s doing under normal operating conditions.

You might have an improperly set or defective pressuretrol or the relief valve itself is defective, you might want to call a pro .

plugs

@ October 21, 2009 3:37 PM in cant get plugs out of 1 pipe steam radiator

Drill `em out and cut out a section of the threads,I call it filleting.

Usually have good luck, just have to be xtra careful you don`t damage the threads.

Thanks for all your hard work

@ August 12, 2009 4:26 PM in Welcome!

It couldn`t have been easy

Don`t have too many words

@ July 20, 2009 7:51 PM in Mothers (Dan H.)

but you know I`ll be thinking of you

New steamer

@ July 18, 2009 9:05 AM in New steamer

Nice job for a Friday.

@ May 23, 2009 9:25 AM in NY Times on the Trades

What type of restrictions would you impose? Are you talking side jobbers or people who just don`t care.

EGADS!

@ April 17, 2009 5:46 AM in Help with my steam system

Boiler piping is incorrect. Looks like the same guy who piped it did some of the wiring as well.
