I'm looking at investing in a good ultrasonic steam trap tester. Any suggestions on what type, model, where to purchase, etc? Also I'm what the experts think about this method of testing. Thank You

@ January 8, 2007 12:55 PM in false water lineI'm trying to find a good drawing of a false water line for a steam system. I do have the one out of Lost Art. It isn't the clearest drawing in the world. That plus I'm not the sharpest tool in the shed. If anyone has a better one I'd love to see it. Thanks

@ January 6, 2007 10:21 AM in Trap Repairswhat about opening the outlet side of a few at a time, putting a bucket under them and firing the boiler for a few minutes?

@ December 10, 2006 8:49 AM in Where do I dump the condensate for a 90% boiler with no drain?I recently built a unattached garage with in-floor heat. I did not put in a drain. I would like to put in a high efficency boiler such as a Triangle Tube or a Lochinvar Knight. Does anyone know how much condensate will be produced on a very cold day in Michigan?
@ October 22, 2006 1:53 PM in Where have all the steam experts gone?Speel ck Not sure who you are responding to. But yea things can get jumbled on here. Guy are a bit touchy on here sometimes. Including myself. Somtimes you ask a question and people think your a banker or hang bumpers for a living. And they talk down to you. I don't think anyone likes that. But what are ya gonna do........
@ October 21, 2006 4:27 PM in Drop HeaderDrop headers are a no brainer in my book. It takes all the stress off the sections. Also your header between the risers can be a tad long or short and no problemo. No fighten trying to connect that big union in the middle. Actually I put my unions in the risers. A couple of 2" unions can save more $'s then buying a big 3" (or whatever size) union.
@ October 21, 2006 4:19 PM in Drop Header29 years experience. My Dad was a steamfitter (as am I, brother, cousin, etc). Some osmosis going on I guess. As well as Dan and all the sharp cookies (most) visiting this website.
@ October 21, 2006 3:46 PM in Steamer pics with Drop headerNo offense, but American options are down to about one or two fitting companys aren't they? And at least one of them forges them over there then ships them home and stamps them USA. Very sad. On another note why do people buy Hyundis and Kia's?
