Great as usual!Funny how the energy wave crashed on us.the turbulance caused quite a flurry of questions. All looking for free heat!Like lunch it isnt there.I had very similar experiences. Also listened to the proposals from various people passionate with ideas.......only to step back and wonder if the investments to accomplish was worth it. Been involved in some geo's.Not the cheapest of installs for hydronics.A current project I'm doing is staying with Nat. gas.A run cost comparison yielded a long term wait for financial recoup on the geo. Anyway,Dan....nice read.I related :) cheese@ October 3, 2007 8:56 PM in Toilet wax rings
rubber like a fernco coupling.the face has a strong adhesive.so when you stick it on the closet horn eyeball it up!some dish soap on the "barbed stab end will let it sink in the closet riser nice. mikeUponor.......

is the PAP i use.Have for some time now.You heard right,it does not expand like pex.Similar to CU.It has memory and is nice to work with.I use it for iron,HWBB,panel rads, boiler headers/distribution and DHW piind(HX side).I have a press tool and use the MLC fitting (formally multi-cor).As always follow Mans fitting/install instructions.Transitions to all types of pipe are there. And you get to buy more tools.......how cool is that. cheese@ October 3, 2007 8:31 PM in Toilet wax rings

ME, Nothing on slab sheild? Low -E company.IMO 2" extruded poly styrene for thermal break has its place in a slab, but conditions need to warrant application.Such as water table and ledge. In a "typical"resy install with frost wall /edge protection a R3 can suffice. Been awhile so enlighten me master cylinder ;) cheese hook me up with a link to your articles MERemember...........

You call???I feel like a check chaser.I recently replaced a system I installed 12 years ago:)New HO's.I felt comfortable with my number until it ran 2 days over.I called in reinforcement..............had to.Still with my favorite sparky jerking MC cable I went over. There were added materials I didn't plan on installing and did without discussing with my client. My client and I spoke twice daily through the install(could of used Ron Jr.).Long and short is after the dust settled my client reckognized what we did and what they got.He blessed me with a substantial reward.I was delighted and so were they. This isn't always possible and I deem as a flag on the play. But in this particular instance it was welcome.I have been fortunate to work for clients who appreciate the work I do.A good reputaion is worthwhile.Cutting corners will put you down. cheeseLeftovers...............

@ December 4, 2005 5:19 PM in I'm a circaholic
I am a circahoilc. The superbrute consumption is 75W.I have many clients who are weekend warriors. My expieriance with zv's is one of dissapointment. With multi zone systems there have been many failures with zv's.Which has brought my thaw machine out @ undesirable hours. Most clients weigh the decision between pumps and anti-freze and opt for the pump. I have installed slow open and close zone heads........domestic and Euro. Those HO's shelves are now stocked with replacement heads.Sorry, all of you who are energy consious and feel that us pump heads are wasteful piggy's............I humbly scrunch my nose ,coil my tail and say oink oink in your general direction! Costant circ is a valuable tool and I have done the math. The last constant circ job I installed had 4 pumps that I estimated $9.00-$12.00 a mo.If I only kept track of how much it cost for clients to replace or rebuild ZV's .........................me tinks it maybe a couple of sense more(misspell intended) :) cheeseI'm Guessing..............

@ November 23, 2005 6:59 PM in Venturi system/purging relief valve
The valve is "purging" due to pressure is exceeding the PRV's rating. There could be several reasons. The expansion tank.....was it replaced with the new boiler install? If so it may not be sized correctly. If it is under sized in a closed system like yours when the boiler firs there maynot be enough room for expansion. If this is the case the PRV will blow off. There is a method to sizing a tank correctly. You have an 1 14" main and iron radiators that is a considerable amount of water. what type and size is the expansion tank? cheeseThanks ME
