Thanks, didn't do anything heroic, Spent parts of 43-45 in N. Africa at Naval Operating Bases (NOB), then helped commission the USS Midway an aircraft carrier a couple of weeks after Japan surrendered. Also this Missouri raised kid married a "Yankee" from Boston, LOL Just lost her on Easter Sunday and most of my Navy buddies have passed away also.@ October 31, 2008 6:52 AM in Is this a stupid question?

@ October 29, 2008 8:56 PM in Is this a stupid question?
The flue pipe from the Burnham 396 to the chimney is about 6-7 feet. The cellar (Basement) is kinda cool now that we have insulated all the (one pipe system) pipes. I was wondering if it is possible to rig up some type of fin attachments to the flue pipe to capture more of the heat from the flue pipe. We cannot add a radiator. Should I go back to the funny farm now?Question

@ April 7, 2008 8:59 AM in OT - Flour Sack Dresses
Yep, remember them well when I was going to the one room country schools. Bad me !! Used to always try to see if the girl's panties were made out of the same colored sack as her dress was !! Most of the times they were. This was back around 1935 near Wellsville, Mo. AAAHHH the good old days.sites I visit

Merry Christmas Glenn, because of your info. on the Burnham products I feel happy and secure that we're getting the Megasteam boiler installed.@ December 14, 2007 5:59 PM in dropped header
Getting Christmas present early, Burnham Megasteam with dropped header. The KV74 had leaks.@ December 13, 2007 7:44 PM in dropped header
Thanks Gerry, was wondering if it would help in stopping the dirt from going to the vents via the steamdropped header
@ December 13, 2007 6:00 PM in dropped header
question , what is the purpose of the dropped header? Can you tell I'm igornant?@ December 8, 2007 8:43 AM in Day of infamy
I remember hearing the news sitting in the car after church. At 15 the world news was the last thing on my mind. Girls were number 1 LOL But I thought to myself, why would they go to war over pearls (Pearl Harbor) So these were the thoughts and memories of a Missouri farm boy who joined the Navy Jan. Thanks Al, thought teflon could be used, but didn't know about keeping it back a couple of threads, thanks againinstalling vents
@ November 5, 2007 1:46 PM in installing vents
The answer has probably been on here, but I forget. I'm changeing the main vent and 3 radiator vent, (1 pipe system) On the main I see they used teflon on the threads, should I use that on the smaller radiator vents or something else? Also haveing the boiler drained to get rid of black water. Thanks for any info.flushing same as cleaning?
@ September 20, 2007 9:35 PM in flushing
question, our contract covers "flushing the H2O" on our one pipe steam boiler. Should this get rid of the all the dirt etc. in the boiler and gauge glass? Or is getting rid of that dirt considered a "clean-out" job? Your thoughts on this.china trade
@ August 22, 2007 3:14 PM in Made in China
do any of you listen to the Lou Dobbs TV show on CNN (6 PM) eastern time? quite a bit about China goods.@ May 14, 2007 10:07 PM in ohm resistance

@ April 4, 2007 5:12 PM in Cleanings
Nothing said here about checking fan motors, belts, etc. on hot air systems, nothing said about steam boiler dirty water, pressure and other parts. Is the burner system the only thing checked? Not asking this to be a wise A$$, just wondering, because our boiler water is covered in our service policy and it's dirty up to an inch below the mark on the glass tube.water
@ March 26, 2007 9:51 PM in boiler full of water
Thanks, water back to the mark on the tube, needs a good cleaning, get rid of the dirt and put in new main vent. think he's going to wait for warm weather to do the overhauling.
