North American Technician Excellence (NATE) is pleased to announce that it has officially been recognized as an ANSI-accredited certification body. ANSI, which stands for the American National Standards Institute, has served as the coordinator of the U.S. private sector, voluntary standardization system for more than 90 years. In early 2011, NATE formally applied for ANSI/ISO/IEC 17024 accreditation, which involved a review of all practices and processes in place. Based on the 17024 requirements, NATE implemented a wide range of updates and enhancements to strengthen its processes and ensure that the integrity of NATE certification is upheld at all levels. Patrick Murphy, Vice President of Certifications, spearheaded the application for ANSI accreditation and led the NATE team in their efforts toward achieving this goal. On December 13, 2011, the ANSI Personnel Certification Accreditation Committee (PCAC) met to review NATE’s assessment report. The RPA (formerly known as the Radiant Panel Association, Inc.) will officially be joining the International Association of Plumbing and Mechanical Officials (IAPMO) effective this month. The move, along with an official name change to the Radiant Professionals Alliance, was formally and officially ratified by RPA membership by a strong majority of affirmative votes on Dec. 5. “The foremost concern of RPA members is their membership status,” said Dorothy Biggs, President, RPA. “IAPMO has assured us that the anniversary dates of all RPA memberships will be recognized, will remain intact for all subsequent renewal purposes and will immediately entitle every member to the multitude of benefits associated with RPA and the structure with IAPMO.” Members can also be assured that all of RPA’s publications and reference materials will continue to be available, including training manuals, home study tools, DVD seminars, the Webinar series, the RPA Standard Guidelines, and ...

North American Technician Excellence (NATE), has selected the fourth and final winner in the “Showcase Your NATE” Sweepstakes, which rewards contractors for promoting their NATE-certified technicians. Bovard Heating & Cooling from Altoona, Pennsylvania submitted the winning entry, earning the company $1,000 in local advertising and/or NATE promotional materials.
