PEX tubing is back in the California Plumbing Code.

PEX is back in the California Plumbing Code. The California Building Standards Commission has removed the state’s exclusion of PEX tubing from the code. The action removes the state’s amendment that excluded the use of PEX for water piping systems from the 2007 CPC and amends the 2010 CPC. The regulations include mitigation measures identified in the commission’s Second Revised Draft Environmental Impact Report (SRDEIR) and additional conditions and restrictions on the use of PEX. Grundfos chairman celebrates 50 years in pumps

Niels, who was two years old when his father, Poul Due Jensen, established Grundfos in the basement of their home in Bjerringbro, Denmark, started an apprenticeship as an engine fitter in 1960, and later qualified as a mechanical engineer at Arhus Teknikum. He took on his first management role at Grundfos in 1974, taking charge of Grundfos in 1977 following the death of his father. (source) Read More

Taco plans Cranston plant expansion

CRANSTON — Taco Inc, which manufactures heating, ventilation and air-conditioning components, is planning a major renovation and expansion at its headquarters at 1160 Cranston St.President and CEO John Hazen White Jr. said the project will allow the company to remain in its present facility, originally a trolley depot and maintenance center that dates to around 1900.White said he does not anticipate any significant new hiring in the immediate future. Mitsubishi recall heat pumps following Chard, U.K. explosion

A HEATING systems company has been forced to recall a number of its heat pumps following an explosion in a Chard street.  Mitsubishi Electric has asked for a return of its Japanese-made Ecodan pumps after a failure on a unit in Alun Rees Way on July 9.  Jo Farley and Christopher Wey were getting their four young children ready for school when the external heat pump blew up in their back garden at 8.30am.  An investigation has found that the accumulator part on the W85 unit failed under pressure due to a manufacturing fault. The part is designed to control the level of liquid refrigerant, the chemical used in the heating process, in the system. (more) Read More
