Taco’s new 3350 valve is used to automatically feed water to a hydronic system whenever pressure in the system drops below the pressure setting of the valve. The 3350 PRV reduces incoming pressure and automatically maintains system pressure to the valve’s adjustable set point. If the system pressure drops below the valve’s set point, it will automatically add water to the system. The 3350 is suitable for systems with fill pressure requirements between 10-50 PSI and features a fast-fill button with automatic reset. The valve automatically exits the fast-fill mode once the system is full and the desired set pressure is reached. Gone are the days of holding the valve open or locking it in an open position, possibly over-pressurizing to the point of setting off the relief valve. All parts for the cartridge-style pressure reducing valve are contained in a one piece cartridge that can be easily removed and ...

One of Taco’s most powerful FloPro Team services is the newly enhanced design software package that’s almost as intuitive as a sketchpad, but greatly more capable. The free-of-charge program and heat loss design suite enables contractors or designers to define building exterior and interior spaces, external influences, and to build and specify components for a host of hydronic, radiant heat, water heating and HVAC applications. With every change, the program dynamically changes calculations and their impact on other components within the system. With FloPro Designer, you simply draw the floor plan, drop in windows and doors and, in an instant, installers or designers have accurate heating and cooling loads. The program also performs system design for baseboard loops and radiant manifolds, sizes pipe of all types and variety, and specifies boiler, expansion tank and circulator models. Another valuable function is the program’s running tabulation of all ...

Xylem Inc., a leading global water technology company focused on addressing the world’s most challenging water issues, has released a video case history detailing how an innovative Bell & Gossett variable speed system helped the Monarch Centre in Atlanta become an award-winning building. Featuring interviews with the engineers who designed, installed and maintain the innovative variable speed pumping system, the video case history chronicles how an inefficient chilled water system was retrofitted into an energy-efficient “star”. Constructed in 1983, the Monarch Centre consisted of a very big “energy” hub, according to chief building engineer Ralph Kowalke. The two condenser pumps and two chilled water pumps were inefficient and had trouble servicing the two chillers and providing a reliable supply of water to the top floor. Engineers from James M. Pleasants Company, Xylem’s local Bell & Gossett representative, worked with the consulting mechanical engineering firm to replace the chillers ...
