1st “Caleffi Excellence” Winners Announced

The year-long program - “Caleffi Excellence” – which encourages designers and installers of hydronic or plumbing systems to showcase their work and receive national recognition has completed the first quarter competition of the contest.   The top four contestants, as determined by most audited votes received from the public, received an iPad™ mini and will be invited to join Bob Rohr, Caleffi training and education manager, on our next Coffee with Caleffi™ webinar (October 31) to discuss their winning designs.   The grand prize winner is Piotr Zelasko of Able Distributors (Chicago, Ill.).  Mr. Zelasko and a guest of his choice, has won a trip to Italy to see Caleffi World Headquarters and will receive a personalized tour of our factories and design facilities.  Mr.Zelasko’s entry:  Hydronics Inc. 2012 Census Shows Wood Heating Continues Growth Streak

Alliance for Green Heat, Sept. 25, 2013 - According to recently released U.S. Census statistics, 63,566 more families used wood or pellets as a primary heating fuel in 2012 compared to 2011, which amounts to an increase of 2.6%, making wood again the fastest growing heating fuel in America.             From 2000 to 2010, wood and pellet home heating grew by 34%, faster than any of the other heating fuels, including solar and natural gas. Oil and propane use declined between 2000 and 2010, and the decline continued in 2012.             Today, 2.1% of Americans use wood or pellets as their primary heating fuel, up from 1.6% in 2000. An additional 7.7 % of U.S. households use wood as a secondary heating fuel, according to the 2009 EIA Renewable Energy Consumption Survey.             Nearly 2.5 million households use wood as a primary heating fuel, making it, by far, the dominant ... PPA Fall Energy Conference Blends the Past and Future

The Pennsylvania Petroleum Association (PPA), formerly PPMCSA, held its Fall Energy Conference from September 16-18, 2013 at the historic Omni Bedford Springs Resort in South Pennsylvania's scenic Cumberland Valley. Participants enjoyed beautiful weather and networking in this unique, historic setting. Much like our industry, the Omni Bedford Springs Resort has a rich history. Founded in 1806, the resort has hosted 10 US presidents and has been the site of many significant moments in American history. It is a National Historic Landmark and has undergone a stunning renovation, making it the perfect blend of past and future.
