The U.S. Senate's Committee on Energy and Natural Resources has approved S.1108, the 10 Million Solar Roofs Act, according to an email alert released by the committee.
First introduced by Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., in February 2010, the bill calls for rebates that, along with other incentives, would cover up to half the cost of the 10 million solar power systems and 200,000 water heating systems. Nonprofit groups and state and local governments also would be eligible. (more)
