ClimateCraft Secures Expanded OSHPD Seismic Certification for Custom Air HandlersSubscribe to RSS feed
ClimateCraft, Inc. announces its continued leadership in code compliance with the receipt of additional listings for the company’s custom air handler line from the Facilities Development Division (FDD) List of Equipment/Components with OSHPD Special Seismic Certification Pre-Approval (OSP). These listings are in addition to those recently secured for ClimateCraft’s stand-alone retrofit line of FanMatrix™ fan array towers.
As the first manufacturer to secure this listing for custom air handling units, ClimateCraft continues its expansion of OSP-compliant capabilities with larger single-tunnel units and extra-wide multiple-tunnel units with side or center vestibules, stainless steel exteriors, foam insulation and smoke damper offerings, as well as expanded fan and coil flexibility.
“This approval translates to the availability of a larger range of more sophisticated, OSP-compliant air handlers designed for healthcare applications, providing healthcare property owners with the peace of mind that their air handling equipment or fan retrofit modifications will not delay the ultimate approval and opening of their facilities,” said Walter Mecozzi, senior vice president of engineering at ClimateCraft, Inc.
The FDD list is administered by the California Office of Statewide Health Planning and Development (OSHPD). An OSP pre-approval allows owners, engineers and contractors of healthcare facilities in California to specify, purchase and install ClimateCraft custom air handlers and replacement fan towers in compliance with the seismic requirements of the California Building Code (CBC). The pre-approval is accepted by OSHPD during its statutory design review and inspection of construction projects.
This extends ClimateCraft’s previously secured unit seismic certification number OSP-0063-10 through 12/31/19, which can be viewed along with the company’s previously secured FanMatrix tower certification number OSP-0272-10 at http://oshpd.ca.gov/FDD/Pre-Approval/special_seismic_cert_pre-approval.html. The OSP numbers supplement the company’s compliance with the seismic requirements of International Building Code (IBC) versions 2000, 2003, 2006 and 2009.
“These code requirements have been adopted by all 50 states in the U.S.,” Mecozzi explained. “This powerful combination of qualifications gives architects, engineers and owners confidence – from the very start of the design process – that a project will comply with critical IBC, CBC, and OSHPD seismic requirements for any project in the U.S.”
