Yeah for Dan!

I don't have any technical heating skills. I do know that going GREEN is the right thing to do...for the planet, for your customers and for your business. There is gold in them thar hills. Dan shares how to BE green...not just "green-washed." This book offers well written, practical, use-able advise from the MASTER of all things wet, warm and comfortable. :)

I love the experiment on page 120 and the demo on page 121! Knuckleheads beware! NOTE that if Dan can help me to understand these concepts, anyone can. Well done.

My wife has been complaining that I don't talk much these days because my nose is in this new book. Great reference as well as an entertaining read. Greening Steam is the book to give to your friends with steam heating systems.

My copy of "Greening Steam" arrived and I was pleased to see all the fundamentals covered so well. This book is a bargain since it really gets down to the real culprits in excessive fuel consumption and problematic steam heating systems.

Dan Holohan has put everything in order of importance starting with a clean boiler and dry steam all the way through to the oft invisible but usual culprits throughout the system. Following the steps, you can get the best results possible without reconfiguring your heating system.

You may well find yourself understanding more about your steam heating system than many of those who may come out to service it! Don't fear that. Any good contractor will prefer an educated customer.

What it comes down to, is that steam heating systems, like any other, need to be in tune. This book takes you through this and explains why in very understandable terms. Give your steam heating system that tune up its been quietly (and sometimes not so quietly) asking for for 75 years! In the end you may be pleasantly surprised at how economical, quiet, even and comfortable a tuned steam heating system really is.

P.S. The section showing the Weil-McLain boiler piped with glass is worth it in and of itself!
