Dan, This book has been an absolute life saver on many occassions. A must have for anyone that wants to know ANYTHING about steam. I have one of the original printings of your book, I make it a point to read it at the beginning of every heating season, then I use it all year as my main referrance. It has finnally worn out to a point that I am embarressed to take it on a job. I need a new one. Thanks for writting it and in such a way that makes it fun to read. Bob Edgar Edgar Plumbing & Heating, Inc. P. S. I read your "Terms and conditions". I applaud you for them. More people should run thier companies like this. Thanks again.

This book could come with a 30 YEAR guarantee-I'm buying my first copy in the spiral cover; I've bought three in the past years, the bindings broke down on my other ones because I read them so much. All my other copies that were worn have been passed on to supply counter folks or building engineers that I REALLY liked. It's the DogGonned Bible of Steam-you don't pass that on to just ANYone. I've been in my trade for more years than I'm yet ready to admit, but I still remember the first time I walked into a building with steam heat...I had never worked on steam before, and only knew the stories of them BLOWING UP if you didn't know what you were doing. I did what Dan recounted once-I crept out of the boiler room-hoping it didn't notice me. I hated that feeling, and that night, went home and found The Lost Art. I'm so glad I did-Dan makes it all make sense. If you're only going to buy one book on steam in your entire life-BUY THIS ONE!

"The Lost Art of Steam Heating" is my steam bible. This is a must read for everyone from the involved homeowner to the heating professional. There is history, technical info, easy to understand diagrams and great stories all surrounding steam heat. Its the type of book you can read over and over and continue to learn from. I strongly recommend this book in addition to attending Dans Dead Men Steam Seminar. They compliment each other very nice.
