As a layman and owner of a 100 year old house with a steam heating system, this book is a bible for me. It makes my steam heat SYSTEM easier to understand and diagnose.
Before reading this book I thought a steam system was obsolete. My objective was to try to get the system to limp along until I could replace it. As I look at the system now I am amazed at the engineering and workmanship that went into creating a simple effecient heating system. Now my goal is to resurect and utilize the existing system. I am confident that it will be functional for years to come.
Dan is an amazing writer and explains things in terms that are easily understood. If you have a steam heating system or work with them I highly recommend the this book be part of your library.
