Challenge

Customer called complaining of uneven heat through out the house. They also were worried because the cost to heat there home continued to rise. The system was a 50 year old steam boiler which had continuing problems.

Approach

We did a whole house heat loss analysis to determine what would be the best route of updating the equipment. We informed the homeowners to first invest in sealing the buldings thermal envelope. They ended up replacing the windows and adding insullation.

Solution

With the house being sealed properly, we were able to put a much smaller boiler than originally required. We removed all the old steam heat and installed a Buderus high effeciency wall hung boiler with 3 radiant zones and a indirect hot water heater. The customers love how comfortable there new system is and have recorded an annual fuel savings of over 60%.
