Wilson Services Inc

We are a quality-minded hot water heat and HVAC retrofit shop. Most of our installations are 'rebate qualifying" systems, and we are the only Energy Star certified HVAC shop in Hampshire/Hamden and Franklin County that can offer Zero% financing for high-efficiency AC/Heat Pump installations through Mass Save (please see Mass Save for further information, or contact Gary Wilson as well for specific details). We are very focused on certain aspects of the heating, hot water and cooling trade, we are not well-staffed for certain aspects of the plumbing trade (service calls, sink, toilet, leaky pipes, etc).

Large Renovation Project

Challenge

A 1350 sq ft ranch was undergoing total renovation along with doubling the square footage. Approximately 2750 sq ft of 'in floor' radiant installed with virtually no pipes below the floor joists. Careful consideration was placed into future means of alternative energy usage- as in the "Primary Loop" can accept additional heating plants down the road such as an oil boiler or a geothermal water to water heat pump, or even solar.

Approach

We methodically and diligently planned routes and drilled hundreds of small-diameter holes through the old and new construction to install the new radiant floor heating system, and built the 'wall' that accommodates all of the newly installed (and future) hydronic heat piping

Solution

We chose the Viessmann Vitodens 100 because of its simplicity and durability. The radiant system is operated by Tekmar, so it (the radiant system) is completely independent of the boiler. An 80 gallon Stiebel Eltron water heater was installed to handle the larger mater bathroom whirl-pool tub. Grudfoss Alpha circulators were installed to keep wattage to a minimum, and the Grundfos UP10 was installed to circulate hot water to the original-location bathroom in the original structure
