Quilt Launches Quilt Tools, Giving Contractors Remote Diagnostics on the Quilt Systems They've Installed

QuiltTools Diagnostics

Quilt today launched Quilt Tools, a partner platform that gives Quilt Certified Partners proactive alerting and remote diagnostics, so they know whether a system is actually broken before rolling a truck. Available to partners at tools.quilt.com, it is the first remote diagnostics system for ductless heat pumps. Quilt also relaunched its Quilt Certified Partner program, restructuring its three tiers around monthly install performance rather than purchase volume.

Quilt began selling to contractors in 2025 and built the network from zero against entrenched incumbents. It now spans more than 150 Quilt Certified Partners across 46 U.S. states and Canadian provinces. Monthly installs grew over 5x in the first half of 2026, while homeowner leads routed to partners are up 6x year over year. The Quilt Certified Partner program spans the full spectrum of the HVAC industry, from private equity-backed service organizations, to independent local contractors.

Intelligence that lasts the life of the system

Every Quilt system is connected, instrumented, and updatable over the air, which means Quilt can see how systems perform in the field and improve them after they ship. Once homeowners opt into sharing, Quilt Tools puts that visibility in partners' hands for the first time.

"This industry treats the homeowner and the contractor as two customers with two separate products. We think it's one system, and it should be intelligent for both," said Paul Lambert, cofounder and CEO of Quilt. "The same sensing and software that makes Quilt the smartest system for a homeowner is what lets a partner catch a problem before the homeowner calls. Quilt Tools surfaces that same intelligence, applied to their business."

The dashboard flags systems that need attention while the issue is still small, and explains what happened, the likely cause, and the affected device in plain language. Partners can also pull up any past window to see how a system actually behaved. Alerts go to the partner, not the homeowner, so partners decide when to make the call instead of reacting to one. That capability rests on Quilt's software-first architecture, protected by a portfolio of issued and pending patents spanning predictive control algorithms, distributed system architecture, and remote monitoring. Legacy ductless equipment, built around static hardware with no two-way communication, cannot be retrofitted to do this.

"We've all had a customer tell us their system acts up at night, then it runs fine when we show up for the service visit. With Quilt Tools, I can pull up that exact window and see what actually happened," said Michael Yarolin of Thermodynamix in Westchester, New York. "We've installed more than 50 Quilt systems since last fall. It's the first equipment I sell where I know whether something's really broken before I put a tech in a truck."

Beyond diagnostics, the web app consolidates the full partner workflow: the leads Quilt generates and routes to partners, order tracking and invoicing, sales and marketing resources, and direct access to Quilt's partner support team. Owners can bring in their whole team under roles including office manager, technician, sales rep, and bookkeeper, each with access to only what that job requires. Quilt Tools has been in preview with six partners since July.

Support at every stage of the job

Quilt built its partner program around a simple premise: a real partnership doesn't end at the sale. From generating homeowner demand to closing the job, executing the install, and servicing the system for the next decade, Quilt supports partners at every step.

That starts before the job begins. Quilt's intelligent marketing platform generates customized multi-channel campaigns for each partner, giving independent contractors access to marketing infrastructure that was previously out of reach. At the install, Toolbox, Quilt's installer feature set inside the Quilt App, streamlines commissioning on the jobsite. Quilt Tools then carries that support through the full service life of the system.

"I cannot emphasize enough the support Quilt gives. There are two days that matter for any system: the day it gets installed, and the first service appointment. Quilt is there for both," said John Burwell, General Manager at Blue Flame, an ARS company. "I place an order and I'm not forgotten about. It's like you're dealing with a friend."

A program built around install growth

Quilt has overhauled its partner program, organizing the Associate, Select, and Expert tiers around monthly installation performance rather than traditional purchase volume. As partners install more Quilt systems they move up a tier and earn more value. Select and Expert partners gain access to twice-annual consumer promotions and marketing matching campaigns. Expert partners receive the most significant benefits: a seat on Quilt's Product Council, enhanced lead generation, a professional video shoot, and a public partnership announcement.

All Quilt Certified Partners receive access to Quilt Tools and Toolbox, installation and sales training, SPIFFs, customizable marketing assets, and homeowner leads.

"This industry measures dealer relationships by purchase volume. We think that's the wrong number," said Mark Schmidt, Chief Commercial Officer at Quilt. "We built the program around install rates because we win when our partners put systems in homes, not when they fill a warehouse. Quilt Tools is how we stay useful to them for the next decade."

The system behind the program

Quilt's ductless heat pump is what makes the program possible. With a SEER2 rating of 25 (2-room) and 25.3 (3-room) and an HSPF2 rating of 12, Quilt systems are 20% more efficient than comparable ductless heat pumps. More to the point for partners, the system improves after it is installed. A firmware update delivered in fall 2025 increased outdoor unit maximum capacity to 24,000 BTU/h cooling and 25,200 BTU/h heating across every installed system, with no new equipment required.

NYT Wirecutter called Quilt "a smarter, better-looking mini-split" and noted that contractors consistently praised its controls as the best in the industry. Quilt maintains a customer satisfaction score of 4.7 out of 5.
